Fine Positioner Application Examples
Vision-guided coarse-fine SMD placement
Fine pitch SMD packages are picked up from the waffle tray on the left and accurately placed on the circuit board on the right using a single vision system carried by the fine positioner. Alignment accuracies of +/- 5 microns are reliably achieved with only loose locations for the components and board, and a robot which need only be accurate to about 1 mm.
Precision laminate registration and stacking
Circuit sublaminates are accurately registered and stacked at the assembly site on the left using feedback from optical sensors and fine positioning. Registrations of 2.5 microns (3 sigma) are achieved without using an accurate robot, accurate sensors or accurate fixturing.
